District member is also potential mission partner

June 2, 2019

Res. 1-02 at the 2018 convention concluded the Southern Illinois District’s mission partnership with the Lutheran Church in Southern Africa and directed “that the Mission Board explore a new mission partnership with its recommendation given to the 2021 SID Convention for approval.”

One possible partnership is with Concordia Reformer Lutheran Seminary and Mercy Center in Palmar Arriba, Dominican Republic, where Rev. Joel Fritsche serves as the director. He teaches and helps prepare men to be pastors to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Dominican Republic and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

Prior to becoming an LCMS missionary to the Dominican Republic, Rev. Fritsche served as pastor at Zion Lutheran Church, Stanton (2009-14). He remains a member of the Southern Illinois District.

The district is pleased to announce that Pastor Fritsche will be at Christ our Savior Lutheran Church, Freeburg, at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 17. (Christ Our Savior is located at 612 N. State Street). Fritsche will share about some of the work that is being done in the Dominican Republic and especially at the new seminary as the Southern Illinois District considers the ministry as a possible mission partnership.

Everyone is invited to attend the presentation. Please RSVP to Christ Our Savior at 618-539-5664 or coslc@att.net so adequate arrangements may be made.
