Need help with witnessing?

Zion Lutheran Church, Mascoutah, will host an Every One His Witness evangelism training workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided. There is no cost to attend this workshop, but a free-will offering will be gathered to help cover lunch expenses. Evangelism Committee members, pastors and interested laypeople are all invited to join in this workshop.

Every One His Witness is a new evangelism program produced by LCMS Witness & Outreach Ministry. While previous evangelism methods used by the Synod have been adapted from other denominations and focused on “cold calls,” going door-to-door and talking with strangers, this evangelism program is built on Martin Luther’s thoughts on vocation and explores how every person has a network of contacts within the various vocations where God has placed them.

The program helps open participants’ eyes to see when friends, neighbors and family members are experiencing difficulties and are particularly in need of receiving the Gospel, and then gives ideas and practice for how to share the Gospel in those situations. Every One His Witness explores the questions “What is witnessing?” and “Why do we witness?” The program teaches the “LASSIE” approach to witnessing: Listen, Ask, Seek, Share, Invite, Encourage.

The workshop will be led by Rev. Kirk Clayton, Zion pastor. All needed materials will be available on-site. Congregations wishing to join in the workshop could either order the materials in advance or use the workshop to determine if the program will work well for their situation and order the materials afterward.

To order the materials, go to and type “Every One His Witness” into the search bar. Congregational kits with 12 workbooks and all associated materials cost $129.99, or individual workbooks can be ordered for $11.99 each.

To register for the workshop and meal, call the Zion office at 618-566-7345. Advance registrations are needed for meal planning. Zion is located at 101 S. Railway Street in Mascoutah.
