Merciful Father, the generations rise and pass away before You. You are the strength of those who labor and the repose of the blessed dead. We give you thanks for all who have lived and died in the faith, especially for Herb, our dear brother. In this body You gave Herb life and poured out Your Holy Spirit when You washed him in the renewing waters of Holy baptism. By the same Spirit You led him to confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and to believe in his heart that You have raised Christ from the dead. Give us faith to commend our brother to You and await with confidence the resurrection of all Your saints, living and departed; though Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
