We walk by faith, not by sight. — 2 Cor. 5:7

This reminds us that the only way for Christians to live is by faith in Christ, the Lamb of Calvary. Believing means accepting the truth of things that we do, not see. We cannot see what personal tragedies, dangers or burdens are before us. But relying on the promise of God that all things work together for our good, we walk ahead in faith. We know that our Savior will walk with us. We trust God’s promise to give us strength to walk as children of God and live lives dedicated to Him.

This is the time of year that we see many lives going down different roads as students graduate from elementary school, high school and college. No matter what road the Lord has chosen, may we always remember that our faith is given by the Holy Spirit. We remain strong in faith through His Word. May our Lord grant us His peace.

As our schools in the district bring this academic year to a close, they are already gearing up for the 2021- 22 school year. If you know someone who is interested in a quality Christian education, please encourage them to visit their local Lutheran school. Our school staffs would be glad to visit with anyone to share about the benefits of Lutheran education and the ministry they provide.

As I reflect upon the ministry that we share in our Southern Illinois District, I am thankful. Congregations continue faithfully in prayer, offering words of encouragement and financial commitment to support administrators, faculties and staff members throughout the district.

I am proud of the strong academic programs and spiritual development that our schools offer. All faculty and staff members go above and beyond their “call of duty” for the benefit of students and their families.

I appreciate the pastors in the district working side by side with faculty for the spiritual development of the students.

It is also important to thank the many individuals who volunteer countless hours in various tasks throughout the school year. The programs of our Lutheran schools could not run as smoothly without the help of the volunteers. Their efforts are greatly appreciated. They are truly a blessing!
